As is the case with the drivers in this Tour Edge series, the Hot Launch 521 fairway metals boast two models, both of which are constructed of 17-4 stainless steel and have a thinner and lighter forged steel crown to increase clubhead speed, and ultimately distance.
Start with the E521, with the E standing for “extreme” game improvement. These feature a “Houdini sole” that pushes weight back, creating in the process a low and deep center of gravity. That is designed to optimize launch and improve forgiveness, while reducing drag and turf interaction. Heel weighting and offset are included to help golfers avoid those dreaded slices.
The other offering is the C521, which uses Diamond Face technology that employs 29 different thick and thin diamond shapes – or mini-trampolines – behind the face to enhance the sweet spot. Rear sole weighting elevates moment of inertia, for greater forgiveness, and creates CG positioning that is made to promote higher launches and longer hang time.
A Power Channel that is 25-percent deeper is included to improve weight distribution and increase face flexing, again to add distance. And while this model is also targeted at players who want as much game improvement as possible, it is built with less offset, to appeal to those golfers who prefer a more traditional look.
