Callaway engineers say their new Mack Daddy CB wedges are built to take the guesswork out of short-game shots “with enhanced forgiveness, control and tons of spin for more consistency around the greens.â€
These are game-improvement sticks, with the CB standing for cavity back. And they are made so golfers get good results even when they do not make perfect contact. Slightly larger heads and thicker top lines are also included to ease the transition from irons to wedges – and to give less-skilled players more confidence in hitting them.
Mack Daddy CBs also come with two sole grinds. In the lower lofts, a full sole provides iron-like turf interaction with moderate bounce. And in the mid- and higher lofts, a modified W grind is employed to bolster bounce and add forgiveness out of bunkers and thick rough.
They also come with a low leading edge, so a player can open up the face and add even more loft.
In addition, proprietary Jaws grooves are designed to offer precise edge sharpness for maximum grip and spin from all types of lies. And they are extended across the face in the sand and lob wedge versions to produce spin no matter where one makes contact.
