In many ways, choice is the optimum word when it comes to the new King Speedzone fairways and hybrids from Cobra Golf.
There are three fairway models, with the King Speedzone Fairway being the most traditional. It is designed with back weighting and a slightly shallower face for easy launch, higher trajectories and maximum forgiveness. As the name implies, the Tour Fairway is a more compact, low-spin product that promotes a piercing trajectory (thanks largely to weighting that moves forward the center of gravity) and provides greater workability. Then, there is the Speedzone Big Tour Fairway. It boasts the largest profile and a stronger loft as well as forward CG weighting for what officials describe as the optimal combination of fast ball speed, high launch and low spin.
All three models employ Cobra Connect powered by Arccos, so that golfers may track the accuracy and distance of every shot using the Arccos caddie app on their smart devices.
These clubs also are made to optimize four key “zones,” the first of which is the Power Zone, where a CNC Milled face is made to be thinner and hotter. Then, there is a Flex Zone, which uses a split rail structure to increase ball speed and ensure a higher launch. The Stability Zone is so named because that is what the Dual Baffler rails provide through the turf. Speed, too, and the result is more club and ball speed at impact. And the Light Zone is the result of a carbon fiber crown that saves 10 grams of discretionary weight that is strategically positioned to lower the CG for higher launch and increased forgiveness.
Specific zones of construction also are used to elevate the performances of the hybrids, and those include hollow-rail technology, back weighting, a forged E9 face and a refined clubhead shape that is slightly larger than a traditional hybrid and has a high moment of inertia for increased forgiveness of off-center hits.
As with the fairways, the new Speedzone hybrids also employ the Cobra Connect system.
