Having brought out the first two models of the Tensei AV (Aluminum Vapor) line of shafts in the form of AV Raw Blue and AV Raw White on tour in January, Mitsubishi Chemical Golf now has released the third, AV Raw Orange. The entire series will be available to the general public as of June 17.
What first and foremost separates Orange from its siblings is its counterbalanced design. That shifts the balance point toward the butt end of the shaft, giving golfers the opportunity to make performance adjustments either by altering shaft length or adding weight to the clubhead.
“This low-launch, low-spin shaft is very stable in the hands, thanks to the counter-balancing, and very responsive in terms of feel as a result of the AV materials,” says Chris Trott, the director of global golf tours and sports marketing for TaylorMade. “It is designed to improve overall energy transfer, and it enables players to put more weight in the clubhead, if they so desire. And as we know, more weight equals more ball speed, which in turn equals greater distance.”
At roll-out, Tensei AV Raw Orange shaft is available in 12 versions, from a 57-gram R flex model and a mid kick point, to one that weighs 82 grams and boasts a TX flex as well as a high kick point.
