Wilson is about to launch a golf ball which it claims to be the softest and longest 35-compression, two-piece ball on the market.
The new Wilson Staff DUO Soft+ ball features the company’s VelocitiCOR technology and incorporates advanced materials designed to extract and amplify every ounce of power from a player’s swing to provide greater distance and exceptional feel with every shot.
It will be launched in Europe at the end of this month at the same time as Wilson has added bolder and brighter colours to its Wilson Staff DUO Optix range, including a distinctive selection of matte red, yellow, orange and green options which are both easy to see and will minimise sun glare off the cover at address, the company claims.
The advanced new Wilson Staff DUO Soft+ ball replaces the DX2 Soft and is available in stores at a recommended retail price of £19.99 (€23) a dozen. It comes in standard gloss white with a red logo for men and an aqua logo for women.
“We wanted to keep the same consistency and reliability that the DX brand was renowned for in Europe but add new technology we have developed in the Wilson Innovation Centre in Chicago,” explained Frank Simonutti, the global director of golf ball innovation at Wilson Golf.
“Our research found when using a driver, the initial velocity of the new DUO Soft+ ball increased by 2 mph. We then repeated the test using a 7-iron and the results were equally impressive, beating some of the more expensive premium balls on the market in distance. The DUO line of golf balls has been extremely popular with golfers across the USA for many years and now we can present the same brand message to golfers around the world.”
The new Wilson Staff DUO Optix ball features a soft, highly resilient polybutadiene core, and it is said to provide exceptional distance, feel and accuracy. Its bold colours also make it stand out from the crowd.
“Wilson was the first brand to launch a low-compression, matte finish coloured ball and the Optix range has gone from strength to strength ever since,” said Simonutti. “The new colours are not only easier to see in all conditions, but the core and technology used ensures exceptional feel and straighter shots.”
The RRP of the Wilson Staff DUO Optix ball is £29.99 (€35) a dozen.
