Galvin Green have taken two years to develop their latest headlining Apollo waterproof jacket which launched in Europe earlier this month.
That is roughly six months longer than the company usually takes to bring a new garment to the market, but officials say they have no doubt the wait has been worthwhile in this instance.
The new jacket is designed using the latest lightweight Gore-Tex Paclite Technology fabric which ticks all the boxes for those golfers who do not want to be restricted when wearing a 100 percent waterproof top. The fabric stretches in different directions during the swing, and it is also extremely breathable, according to the company.
The introduction of the Apollo jacket also marks the first time that Galvin Green have incorporated front pockets into a garment made from Gore-Tex Paclite fabric. This was one of the reasons why the development stage of the Apollo Jacket took slightly longer than normal because designers had to conduct a series of tests to ensure the pockets did nothing to interfere with a player’s swing. Their introduction also increased the overall weight of the jacket by 25g to 300g but at the same time made it considerably more versatile for those golfers who want to wear it both on and off the course.
The front pockets are just one of the features designed to make the garment user-friendly. Shaped sleeves are intended to provide easy movement and its cuffs are elasticated and feature a tab with a touch-and-close Velcro fastener. Adjustable chest-width tabs and an elasticated drawstring at the helm also add to this custom-fit element, while the jacket’s super-soft feel should also prove appealing to a wide range of customers.
Galvin Green’s latest Apollo jacket comes in a choice of four colour combinations, plus two solid colour options in sizes S-3XL. The recommended retail price is £290 (€340).
