Scotty Cameron’s latest addition to his popular 2019 Phantom X range is about to arrive in golf shops both in Britain and across the rest of Europe.
The new Phantom X 12.5 has been added to meet the needs of those players who have been looking for a stable mallet-headed putter with a bit more toe flow.
It has been developed using feedback from Titleist’s tour staff and features a low-bend shaft configuration that is designed to aim directly down the target line and promote an arc path for more toe flow in the putting stroke. It also features a new single-milled sight line which stretches from the leading edge to the back of the flange, something which the tour players were particularly keen to see featured in the model.
The new putter is the same as all the other clubs in the Phantom X range in that it is constructed using a combination of 303 stainless steel and aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, which is intended to provide a higher moment of inertia, optimal weight distribution, forgiveness, improved sound and responsive feedback.
The aluminum components have been anodized black to provide a misted finish to help reduce sun glare. The stainless steel elements also have been misted while in contrast the single sight line has been painted gloss black to make it stand out.
“Every time we introduce a new putter line, I receive requests from tour players and dedicated golfers for addition setups and configurations,” Cameron said. “Phantom X 12.5 is the result of some of those requests. I added the low-bend shaft for extra toe flow and also designed a new alignment option by milling a single sight line down the centre painted black for a very clean look from address.
“It really sets up nicely.”
The 12.5 putter is the 10th in the Phantom X range and like the others is built around the flagship high-MOI Phantom X 12 model.
The Phantom X 12.5 was launched last month in the US and will be on sale at Titleist-authorised golf shops in Great Britain and Ireland and across Europe from 14 February. The SRP is £399. Both right- and left-hand models are available.
