Motocaddy has launched what it’s billing as the world’s first touch-screen-enabled electric trolley.
The M5 GPS is the flagship model in the company’s new 2020 range and features a fully integrated GPS system which is similar in power to those in modern smartphones and is preloaded with more than 40,000 golf courses around the world.
The GPS system provides a wide range of information including yardages to the front, middle and back of greens, the location of hazards, a clock, round timer, score tracker, the par for each hole, automatic hole advancement and even the location of the nearest defibrillator in case of emergencies.
When connected to the free Motocaddy GPS app golfers also can receive a wide range of other information alerting them to missed calls, text messages, e-mails and other alerts.
The information is all viewed on a high-resolution, 3½-inch LCD screen which is designed to be clear and easy to operate even with a golf glove on.
“The M5 GPS trolley is the culmination of several years of R&D investment and extensive testing and we’re thrilled to bring another model to the market that features pioneering and innovative technology,” said the company’s CEO, John Helas. “The touch screen is so clear and easy to use that it delivers everything a modern golfer needs to get around the course while playing their best.”
The GPS system is just one of the features of the new M5 GPS trolley which is likely to attract interest.
It is driven by a 230W motor using a lightweight M-Series battery that is 33 percent smaller than its nearest competitor, according to the company.
The battery can be charged on board and does not need to be removed for transportation and storage. When folded it is 11 percent smaller than other models on the market, the company says, and it features inverted wheels which enable it to fit into even the smallest of boots.
The M5 GPS also provides adjustable distance control (up to 60 yards) and a handle which can be adjusted for height. It comes in a graphite frame with blue trim at a recommended retail price of £749.99 (standard lithium battery) or £799.99 (ultra lithium battery).
