Arizona
In October, the Scottsdale Golf Retreat at Troon North, home to the celebrated Monument and Pinnacle courses, debuted 26 new suites for stay and plays in Scottsdale. Community amenities such as a lounge, 650-square-foot pool, inground spa, outdoor kitchen for grilling and two fire features are available to all guests.… The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale wrapped up a multi-phase renovation in April. A reimagined arrival experience and lobby bar, an expanded Scotch Library, a new hidden speakeasy, pool complex enhancements and modernized meeting spaces now serve guests.… Since being purchased by a new owner, the 27-hole Tubac Golf Resort & Spa (where “Tin Cup” was filmed) has announced a seasonal all-inclusive dude ranch, Otero Ranch, which runs from November 2026 to April 2027. Guests can enjoy horseback riding, ranch activities, hiking, golf, Southwestern-style lodging, dining and a spa.
California
Architect Brian Curley restored Pelican Hill Golf Club’s scenic Ocean North and Ocean South courses in Newport Coast nine holes at a time over the past 18 months, completing the work this fall. Both are original Tom Fazio designs part of the luxurious Resort at Pelican Hill.… The rebranded La Valle Coastal Club (formerly Morgan Run) in Rancho Santa Fe has been modernized following a $50-million transformation by its new owners, Meriwether Companies. The three-year project upgraded the 77-room Guesthouse Hotel, 27 holes of golf, restaurants, meeting spaces, spa, pools and racquet facilities, including tennis, pickleball and padel.… Pebble Beach Resorts has improved Del Monte, the oldest continuously operated course west of the Mississippi. Renovated bunkers, tees, new drainage and irrigation and walking paths give it a cleaner look. Even the grille has been refreshed. Gil Hanse’s redesign of The Links at Spanish Bay is set to wrap up before the 2027 U.S. Open returns to Pebble Beach Golf Links next June. Spanish Bay’s revamped clubhouse will feature a new bar and multiple simulators.
Colorado
The first course at Rodeo Dunes, a namesake Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw design at the developing mega-resort of the same name in Roggen, northeast of Denver, has spent all of 2026 allowing Founders member play, giving it time to grow in nicely for a splashy public debut next year.… Bella Ridge Golf Club, an Art Schaupeter design in Johnstown that began allowing preview play in October 2025, added a practice facility and new clubhouse in 2026. The Front Range course features 200 feet of elevation change on a former dairy farm between Fort Collins and Denver.
Connecticut
A multimillion-dollar restoration of C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor’s Yale Golf Club was completed by Gil Hanse this spring in time to celebration the course’s 100th anniversary. Public tee times cost $350.
Florida
Designed by David McLay Kidd, Bone Valley will debut in January 2027 as the fifth course at Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green. The course is named after the fossil-rich region of central Florida that was once a shallow prehistoric sea.… Bringing a much-needed public facility to southwest Florida, The Gate Golf Club is on schedule to launch its 3,369-yard nine-hole Peter Jacobsen design, plus a lighted range, 18-hole putting course, clubhouse and restaurant later this year.… The next chapter of the Hollywood Beach Golf Club emerged in April thanks to architect Richard Mandell. New greens and bunkering, plus reshaped grounds and expanded playing corridors, created a course that feels classic but plays modern.… Saddlebrook Resort’s owners, Mast Capital and Amzak Capital Management, have spent $92 million to refresh everything at the Tampa-area resort, including the lobby, lodging, pool and restaurant scene. Its golf footprint shrank from 36 aging holes down to 27 more engaging ones by Rees Jones. The Pine and Oak nines have been renamed as Saddlebrook National. A renovation of the Cypress nine is on hold. The 480-acre property will eventually offer a new town center of 465 luxury apartments, 25 townhomes, 75,000 square feet of retail and office space, and a pedestrian-friendly promenade.… Architects John Sanford and David Ferris are restoring the Donald Ross-designed front nine and the Dick Wilson-designed back nine (added decades later) at the Delray Beach Golf Club, a municipal course scheduled to reopen in November.… After years of delays, construction at Esplanade at Rivergrass in Naples will wrap up next year, introducing the fifth collaboration between Architect Chris Wilczynski and developer Taylor Morrison under the Esplanade brand since 2012. The 6,700-yard centerpiece of a new residential community will eventually go private as its membership grows.… Jack Nicklaus and his son, Gary, are transforming the shuttered Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club into a new private club, NOKOSI: A Nicklaus Family Club, in Palm Beach County. It could reopen later this year.
Georgia
The Patch, Augusta’s redesigned muni by Tom Fazio and Beau Welling, and its nine-hole short course, The Loop by Tiger Woods, made a splashy grand opening after the Masters in April. Augusta National Golf Club invested heavily to rejuvenate the neglected facility.… Another Wilczynski design – Esplanade St. Marys – opened to the public in August but will go private as the membership grows.… Warmouth Sands, a municipal golf course by Architect Mike Young, opened in Vidalia.… Reynolds Lake Oconee introduced Fenmoor this fall as its eighth course in the sprawling lakeside golf resort community halfway between Atlanta and Augusta. The first walking-friendly routing in Reynolds will be for members only.… The Six, a new six-hole short course of artificial tees and greens, debuted this spring at Lanier Islands Resort, a 1,200-acre lakeside destination in Buford 60 miles from Atlanta. It was designed by Billy Fuller, Augusta National’s former superintendent, who also created the resort’s Legacy championship course in 2009. The state’s only night-lit par 3 boasts holes ranging from 56 to 91 yards overlooking Lake Sidney Lanier.… The King & Prince Golf and Beach Club will reopen in November on St. Simons Island as a private club after years as a public course. Architect Beau Welling led a reimaging of the routing, while the clubhouse was also modernized.… The 27-hole Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans – a co-host of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur before the Masters – completed a multimillion-dollar reimagining of its dining, social and hospitality spaces in April. Bunker renovations, practice facility improvements such as Trackman hitting bays, a putting course and a new halfway house will be done this fall.
Hawaii
Mauai’s famed Kapalua Plantation Course, which lost its PGA TOUR event, The Sentry, due to the new 2027 PGA Tour schedule, is taking out 10 acres of irrigated turf, letting native vegetation take over areas out of play. The playing footprint will shrink to 95 acres to help mitigate local water issues. Kapalua’s Bay Course remains closed as its water is being diverted to the Plantation.
Illinois
The 27-hole Cantigny Golf in Wheaton opened its renovated Lakeside nine in June as it closed its Woodside nine for a renovation to be completed by June 2027, ending the three-year project. The improvements reconstructed all greens and tees, refurbished bunkers, upgraded irrigation and improved select fairways for better turf and drainage. The renovated clubhouse has also reopened.… The Orchard Valley Golf Course, a muni in Aurora, wrapped up a two-year, $8.8-million project this summer that renovated and relocated bunkers, added new irrigation, built retaining walls on two holes, regrassed and resurfaced expanded greens and tee boxes and realigned several golf car paths.
Indiana
French Lick Resort built the new RidgeView Cottages that debuted in March for golf groups of up to 16 players. Sand Creek, the resort’s 700-yard short course that opened in 2025, added lights for tee times after dark this year.
Louisiana
Originally a nine-hole course, the False River Golf & Country Club in Ventress, 30 minutes north of Baton Rouge, is being transformed by architect Nathan Crace into an 18-hole routing that will open as a new community asset this fall.… The 36-hole City Park Golf Course in New Orleans spent $2.2 million to create a new putting course and improve practice facilities.
Michigan
Island Resort & Casino in Harris in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula added nine holes, the Cedar Course, aka “Kishki” (“cedar” in the Potawatomi language), for preview play in August. Architect Paul Albanese, the designer of Sweetgrass and Sage Run, used template features and holes from the Golden Age as inspiration.… Boyne Golf continues to renovate the Donald Ross Memorial at The Highlands one hole at a time. Since 2021, architect Ray Hearn has tweaked six holes. A new par 3 will be revealed next year in northern Michigan.… The Detroit Golf Club’s North course, which reopened after a restoration by Donald Ross expert Tyler Rae, played host to its eighth and final Rocket Classic, a PGA TOUR event held at the club since 2019.… Pine Trace Golf Club in Rochester Hills reopened in June after a near-two-year closure to rebuild the Arthur Hills design from the ground up. The multimillion-dollar project improved drainage, added new irrigation, re-grassed fairways, laid down new golf car paths, rebuilt tees and improved the landscape surrounding every hole.
Minnesota
New owners at Cragun’s Resort continue to put their stamp on the 63-hole property purchased last summer. New logos, a renovated main lobby, a new Lakehouse Bar + Kitchen, new lakeside coffee shop and new luxury South Beach Cabins offering year-round lakefront accommodations have come online.… OCM Golf, the design firm of former major champion Geoff Ogilvy, Mike Cocking and Ashley Mead, put the finishing touches on the Tepetonka Club this summer in New London. The private club will eventually include a short course partially designed by announcer Jim Nantz.… Manitou Ridge Golf Club, a Ramsey County-owned facility dating to 1928, completed a $3.5-million renovation featuring new forward tees, renovated greens, rebuilt bunkers, restored cart paths and a state-of-the-art irrigation system.… Burl Oaks Golf Club in Minnetrista changed its name in March to Crooked Water Golf Club to embrace its new identity after architect Jay Blasi redesigns the private golf course and adds a new nine-hole short course by 2027.
