Junior Tour of Northern California star Asterisk Talley has been enjoying the limelight recently, and rightly so.
In late March, Talley was named one of the members of the inaugural U.S. National Junior Team by the USGA.
The U.S. National Junior Team is the newest milestone for the U.S. National Development Program, which launched last year to ensure that American golf is the global leader in the game by focusing on six key pillars: talent identification, access to competition, national teams, athlete resources, player development and relations and athlete financial support.
The program’s elite juniors represent the first of three national teams to be formed with the Amateur Team to be announced in 2025 followed by a Young Professional Team in 2026.
In early April, meanwhile, Talley, whose first name means “little star” according to her mom, made the cut and tied for 8th competing in the annual Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
"It was definitely euphoric..." Talley told ABC30 Fresno about playing Augusta National. "I just had so much joy on every hole. Even when I made a bogey, I was just like, its Augusta it's fine."
Amazingly, she’s also still only 15 years old and a freshman in high school.
