The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am changed into a PGA Tour Signature event, but Crosby Weather didn’t care.
Wyndham Clark shot a course record 12-under 60 playing preferred lies in Saturday’s third round to get to a total of 17-under 199 and was declared a 54-hole champion due to windy and rainy weather that canceled play at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Clark finished one stroke ahead of Ludvig Aberg to claim this third PGA Tour title.
"Everyone wants to win a tournament in 72 holes and sleep on a lead and perform on Sunday," Clark said. "Coming down 16, 17, 18 at Pebble Beach [on Saturday] it felt like a Sunday ... as I came to the green I got a standing ovation and everyone was giving me the respect for having such a great round. When I shook hands and waved to the crowd, it really felt like I just won the tournament, so I don't feel like I got cheated at all."
Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, caught fire in the third round, draining more than 150 feet of putts during the first nine holes on the way to a scintillating front-nine 28. He still had a shot at a 59 on 18, but his eagle putt stopped just short of the cup.
In the Pro-Am portion of the event, NCGA member Jeff Rhodes, a member at San Francisco Golf Club, and pro partner Rory McIlroy took the title with a 36-hole total of 17-under 127. Rhodes helped the team 16 shots.
Under the Signature event format the amateurs only played the first two rounds, which were held at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. The tournament will most likely also be a Signature event in 2025.
