Normally he took an hour or so to get out of the house. But on gameday he took two hours. He wanted to slow himself down when getting dressed, raising a glass of orange juice, etc., all in a kind of slow motion.
The idea was (is) to lower one’s metabolism and counter the anxiety naturally felt when something important is coming up. It is especially imperative for those whose natural life rhythm tends to be on the fast side. However, even if you’re an easy-going individual it helps avoid jerky takeaways.
