Editor’s Note: Originally run in the January 2026 issue of Golf Fitness Monthly, the monthly digital publication of the Golf Fitness Association of America (GFAA), this piece by Dr. Bobby Papariella highlights the growing call for fitness, performance and health & wellness services at clubs across the country. With some facilities lacking the infrastructure, staff or budget to adequately support this vital member amenity, Dr. Papariella is satisfying the need through education, communication and collaboration. His extensive expertise is an asset to the ever-growing golf performance facet of player development throughout the industry.
I grew up playing junior golf and have always been involved in competitive amateur tournaments. As a result, I see the game from that angle when it comes to how to prepare your body. My love for sports, growing up playing basketball in Indiana, has put me through the step-by-step rehab process on more than one occasion.
After graduating from Indiana University with an Exercise Science degree, I went on to the University of South Carolina’s physical therapy program. As I earned my doctoral degree and became a physical therapist, my goal was to include golf in what I would do professionally, which led me to attain TPI certification.
I started my business, Tee Time Therapy, in 2015 to serve golfers in the private club sector, helping to enhance their ability to play and remain healthy. My company began out of Green Valley Country Club in Greenville, South Carolina, and has expanded to Greenville Country Club, the current mainstay of our business, with upwards of 1,200 members. We have grown since then and now have fitness professionals at other clubs as well. As a team, we assist private club members at facilities across South Carolina in various areas of fitness and wellness. We have trainers, physical therapists, massage therapists and even yoga instructors. We offer a holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle.
The full-time engagement and programming are similar throughout our facilities, though we have done smaller collaborations with other clubs. This includes on-range stretching sessions and a hands-on health and wellness presence at various special club events.
Our clients at these clubs include beginners, experienced golfers, college players and even tour pros. The road to a healthy lifestyle and pain-free performance starts with an assessment (a TPI evaluation if they are golfers). We set goals and make a plan to improve our clients’ limitations, including weight loss and better nutrition.
We have also expanded our company’s footprint into an education role within the industry, and are very active with the Carolinas chapter of the Club Management Association of America. We’re proud to be a fitness and wellness expert and resource for these industry leaders, conducting presentations in front of many of our regional club managers and their fitness professionals. We share industry trends and discuss ideas on how to structure fitness and wellness programs for golfers, tennis players, pickleballers and other members who engage in other club-related activities.
I also provided similar expertise and information last summer at the CMAA’s National Fitness Summit in Naples, Florida. We’ll conduct additional wellness sessions and hands-on presentations at the Mid-Atlantic Club Managers Association Fitness Summit this March.
At Tee Time Therapy, we provide a fitness team and create wellness services for clubs that don’t already have them on site. Between that engagement with club members and the larger-scale presentations we’re providing within our field, Tee Time Therapy is poised to continue its growth in 2026 as the golf fitness and performance industry becomes an even bigger aspect of the club management ecosystem.
