Welcome to the June 2025 issue of Golf Fitness Monthly, brought to you by the Golf Fitness Association of America (GFAA). In this publication, we offer valuable insight and expertise from PGA of America Golf Professionals and fitness and performance experts who provide timely golf fitness programming that meets the needs of their diverse clientele and the industry at large. For your reference, all past Golf Fitness Monthly issues and weekly Best Practices are available on the GFAA website (Golf.Fitness).
In this month’s issue:
• Dr. Steven Lorick, the President of the Golf Fitness Association of America (GFAA), discusses golf as a sport and the importance of listening to science and your body when getting fit for the game.
• Bob Forman, an Exercise Physiology Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, Speaker and Author in North Carolina, educates us on the physiology behind the sway and slide swing fault.
• Jason Weir-Smith, the Director of Racquets at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, introduces us to his extensive racquets program, its staff, programming and facilities.
• Cheryl Anderson, the PGA of America Director of Instruction at Heathrow Legacy Country Club in Longwood, Florida, and Scott Shepard, the Founder of Driven Golf Fitness and Sports Performance, highlight their collaboration in working with golfers and in speaking at the recent LPGA “We Are the Women in Golf Summit.”
• Claude Brousseau, the PGA of America Director of Player Development at Wailea Golf Club in Kikei, Hawaii, tells us about programming for his golf resort clientele and how he teaches them to warm up before a round and stay fueled during it.
• Lisa Goulian Twiste, Senior Apparel Writer at PGA Magazine, offers some tips on shopping for dads and grads this month with her Summer gift guide.
We thank this group of PGA of America Golf Professionals and golf fitness experts for sharing their time and knowledge to make the Golf Fitness Association of America a respected source of information on the business of golf fitness. We also thank our partners in this endeavor – TPI, PGA Magazine, GRAA, Gray Institute, Fitness Lifestyles and Infraway – for their continued support.
I hope you enjoy this issue.
