We held a unique promotion to raise awareness of golf performance training and health and wellness at Family Golf and Learning Center last November. The goal of Free Custom Golf Movement Assessment Month was to help restricted golfers move better and play pain-free golf in the new year.
I had hosted several free assessment weeks in the past, but with the success and popularity experienced during those sessions, I saw the demand to expand the free assessment program to the entire month of November.
The free assessment program is open to golfers of all ages and skill levels and is primarily effective for restricted golfers wanting to move more efficiently and play golf without the pains and hindrances that they often face and detract from their enjoyment in the game.
The purpose of the assessment is to pinpoint areas of the body that are limited in range of motion, stability and power so that we can create a custom golf fitness program for the client. We do a TPI mobility/stability assessment, a power assessment and a swing speed analysis. This one-hour custom golf movement assessment gives us enough time to talk through medical history and goals, complete the assessment, review results and pitch our 3-month hybrid program that includes follow-up assessments, personalized plans tailored to the client’s goals, chiropractic treatment and specific exercise routines. It provides a full blueprint of how well the client’s body is moving and where the limitations are so we can create a custom golf fitness program for the golfer. For golfers who are local, we include chiropractic care and soft tissue therapy as part of the program.
Since this was our first full month of free assessments, we didn’t know what to expect but were pleased with the turnout. We conducted roughly 20 free one-hour custom golf movement assessments last November, converting almost 100 percent of them to individualized 3-month programs. We look forward to offering similar opportunities for golfers to expand their knowledge of golf fitness and apply that information to their bodies and golf skills.
Golfers sign up for the free assessment with no commitment beyond that session. Once I conduct the assessment and review the results, most golfers are excited that they found someone who can help them resolve their limitations and become better golfers.
Through this program, we can scale and help golfers outside the state of Missouri. After all, movement is medicine, and we want to provide custom golf fitness programs that will not only benefit their golf game but also help with their longevity of playing the game they love!
