Starting off the year strong with a Western Slope course just west of the Grand Mesa, Tiara Rado Golf Course. The name “Tiara Rado” actually means “Red Crown” in Spanish and was named after the red rocks. The Tom Kolacny designed course opened in 1972. It measures 6,442 yards from the longest men’s tees with a slope rating of 125 and a 70.5 USGA rating. From the longest women’s tees, it measures 6000 yards and has a slope rating of 144 and a 73.9 USGA rating. Tiara Rado hosts CGA Women’s Clinics and CGA Championship Qualifiers each year. In 2023, they held a CGA Match Play Qualifier on May 14th and a Women’s Practice Clinic on May 20th. Tiara Rado also hosts the Rocky Mountain Open in late August.
On top of CGA Member Events and Tournaments, Tiara Rado is one of three courses (Tiara Rado, Lincoln Park, and Bookcliff) to be a home course for the Grand Junction section Solich Caddie and Leadership Academy. So far, the Grand Junction section has had one caddie receive the Evans Scholarship and are hoping for their second, who will be present at the Evans Scholarship selection meeting at Cherry Hills Country Club January in 2024.
“Harvey Richardson is the current caddie master out there and he has done a fantastic job!”

When it’s golf time in Grand Junction, which is mostly year-round, you will find a stellar experience on this challenging course that will test your skills yet leave you feeling fulfilled. The superintendent, Doug Jones, and his crew keep the greens and fairways manicured and in top-notch shape. Tiara Rado has both men’s and women’s golf leagues. Both of which consisted of some of our top Fall Fitness Finishers in the fall of 2023. Their men’s league is one of the largest in the state as they have combined Lincoln Park and Tiara Rado into one.
On top of the breathtaking views, various golf course holes, and landscaping that are enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels, there are over 90 species of birds a year that call Tiara Rado Golf Course their home. Fun fact: This is the only place in the United States where all three species of bluebird fledge. So, while taking in the views and enjoying a great day on the course, you’ll be in great company.
“It’s an ideal all-around experience in Grand Junction.”
