Broughton High School clinched the team title at the 11th North State High School Challenge, rallying from a one-shot deficit to Pinecrest High School after the opening round to finish with a team total of +2 across two days of cold, windy, and challenging conditions.
Senior standout Preston Hage led the charge, earning Individual Medalist honors with an impressive 5-under-par 137. His stellar play was key to Broughton’s comeback and eventual triumph.
The championship team included Hage, James Fisher, William Carr, Smith Summerlin, and Sheppard McKenzie, guided by Coach Steve Smith.
In addition to Hage’s top honors, William Carr was named to the First Team All-Tournament, while James Fisher earned a spot on the Second Team, underscoring the depth and talent of the Broughton roster.
