October 6 is Tết Trung thu, a traditional Vietnamese festival, which children anticipate for the moon cakes and other sweets, the toys, and costumed dances. DPL is celebrating Tết Trung thu at the Athmar Park (Oct. 6) and Hadley (Oct. 11) branch libraries.
Hint: If you aren’t able to attend an event, you can make your own moon cakes (and other Vietnamese dishes) at home thanks to New York Times Cooking. To access, navigate to denverlibrary.org/nytimes, where you get access to multiple New York Times offerings. Just search “moon cakes” or “Vietnamese” in the recipes!
October is also Conflict Resolution Month. See if you can find the medical origins of the word, “resolution?”
Hint: For word definitions and etymologies, you can use the Oxford English Dictionary with your library card. On the site, go to Research, Selected a Curated Topic, Dictionaries & Encyclopedias, and then Oxford English Dictionary.
