France’s Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne (DSNA) will soon acquire new ATC simulators from UFA, Inc., under a new framework agreement that was signed on the first day of the 2021 World ATM Congress. “UFA has been supporting air traffic control training in the Paris area with DSNA for over 20 years, and we look forward to expanding DSNA‘s training capabilities throughout their service area under the new framework agreement,” stated Axel Seitz, Director International Business Development for UFA. Geoffroy Ville, DSNA’s Deputy Director of Operations, remarked, “DSNA considers simulator based training as an important part of the recovery, and the new UFA simulators to be provided under the new framework agreement will be an integral part of it.”
With high-volume drone operations comes the requisite need of advances in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Management (UTM). This need is amplified as high-volume operations begin to take place in densely populated urban areas. The Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) program took a proactive and successful step in facilitating drone operations through the implementation of U-space. Yesterday in the Tower Theater attendees learned of the key challenges of a high-volume urban ‘advanced U-space’ in a SESAR-lead seminar entitled, “Challenges of Advanced U-space Services and Concepts in Urban Environments”. Presenters also shared the initial findings of four advanced U-space projects founded by SESAR.
