To support early-career physicians, an educational webinar series was developed to showcase challenging clinical problems in a physician's day-to-day life. The series included physician well-being touchpoints and financial literacy training and had over 2,100 attendees.
Advocacy Day at the State House was established to build and maintain relationships with state legislators to strengthen the advocacy power of the Chapter. The program allowed internists to learn about current advocacy issues, gain legislative advocacy skills, and practice those skills in state legislative meetings.
The Massachusetts Chapter created a Leadership Development for Women in Medicine Committee to identify where the Chapter could close the leadership gap for women in medicine. The Committee, in its third year of existence, continues to support, elevate, and amplify women ACP members to seek and gain leadership roles.
The Missouri Chapter developed a video series to provide medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career physicians with insight into the varied career paths in internal medicine. The Chapter developed 12 videos highlighting popular and lesser-known practice areas.
Four weekly social media campaigns were implemented to increase the Chapter's visibility and support member engagement. The campaigns were developed by three committees with oversight provided by Chapter leadership.
The New York Chapter's Well-Being Committee cultivated a monthly series for ACP members to share life experiences, facilitate connections, and create communities of practice through narrative medicine. The program utilized short readings from Annals of Internal Medicine to stimulate conversations related to a theme.
A two-night virtual event was developed to provide medical students an opportunity to meet with residents in internal medicine training programs before ranking their preferred choices. The event was promoted as an informal meet and greet and utilized residents as mentors for medical students.
The Texas Chapter created a statewide internal medicine virtual webinar series to connect medical students to program-specific leadership and highlight a residency program's values and missions prior to invited interviews. The initiative sparked interest across the nation and a toolkit is in development for the ACP website.
