Atmos Energy’s new Staying Connected series is helping communities get to know their energy workers by sharing their personal stories during the pandemic.
“Staying connected to the 1,400 communities we serve is vital as we move safely through our new normal,” Liz Beauchamp, Atmos Energy vice president of governmental and public affairs, told American Gas. “We understand the challenges our customers are facing, so we hope that sharing our team members’ stories provides some comfort and reassurance that we are all in this together.”
Andy Reynolds, operations supervisor, Atmos Energy Mississippi Division, shared that his personal dedication to the utility’s safety protocols stems from his devotion to his brother, Sammy, who was born with spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down. The brothers have lived together for 20 years.
“Sammy is highly susceptible to the virus, so I don’t let anyone come over, nor do we go anywhere where we may be around people,” Reynolds said. “We go for drives on the weekends and sit on the back porch, and that’s it.”
The response from social media shares was immediate. “Way to go Andy! You are an inspiration!” wrote one fan. “Being a caregiver is an essential job! Thank you for what you do in the field and at home,” said another.
The series, a group effort by Atmos Energy’s corporate communications team, will continue because of the overwhelmingly positive response.
