After 25 years in the making, the Carolina Museum of the Marine opened to the public in early June at Lejeune Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Unlike most U.S. military museums tied to a single command, this one is a rare grassroots effort, shaped by a community determined to honor Carolina Marines and Sailors who served from the 1940s to today.
