It is not always easy for golfers with slower swing speeds to find drivers designed expressly to fit their games. But that is exactly the player that Callaway Golf engineers are looking toward with the recently released Epic Max Star.
The key is giving golfers of that ilk a lightweight club that makes it easier for them to produce higher ball speeds across a more expansive area on the clubface and add distance off the tee. And Epic Max Star is 52 grams lighter than the standard Epic Max. Yet, it also boasts the same technologies that has made the original Epic Max club so popular among those looking to add distance to their drives, among them Jailbreak Speed Frame and Flash Face, both of which were designed using artificial intelligence.
Forgiveness is a factor in these clubs as well, thanks to a lighter, stronger triaxial carbon material that saves significant weight in the clubhead. That allowed company technicians to redistribute mass to promote high launch and more forgiveness. And a triaxial carbon toe patch is included to encourage a draw on tee shots.
In addition, the Epic Max Star features a sliding rear weight made of titanium so golfers can customize ball flights.
Weight savings in these clubs also comes from the use of lighter shafts (36-gram Attas Speed T1100s) and grips (25-gram Winn Dri-Tac Lites).
