Designed by Kim Braly, the director of research and development for KBS, the new Players Graphite Iron shaft is made largely for golfers looking for the same tight tolerances and control as the company’s KBS Tour Steel shaft, but in a lighter-weight version so the club is easier to swing. It is designed for wide appeal, from better golfers to beginners and those with higher handicap indexes.
According to Braly, this product boasts mid to high launch and spin attributes and is being sold initially in Parallel Tip options and weights ranging in 10-gram increments from 50 to 100 grams and with “coinciding, differentiating flex patterns.” Taper Tip editions will come out later this year.
In addition, Braly said, the PGI shafts will produce the same frequency (4.0) as most of its steel predecessors as well as a dynamic mid-kick point reaction per shaft. The result, he asserts, will be shafts that give players better control and trajectory with their irons while improving the distances they hit their irons.
