In a continuation of its efforts to offer clubs to a wide range of “game improvement” golfers, Tour Edge has released its Hot Launch 521 hybrids. The line consists of two models, the E521 and the C521. Both have clubheads made of 17-4 stainless steel.
The E521s is described as being “extreme spec” and made for players with slower to mid-tempo swing speeds who have trouble getting the ball in the air. As for the C521s, they are classically shaped clubs geared largely for golfers with medium-plus swing speeds as well as a desire not only for easier launching but also added forgiveness and power across the clubfaces.
The E521s employ what Tour Edge officials call Houdini Sole technology. The idea behind that advance is to push weight in the clubhead as far back as possible. That produces a low and deep center of gravity and is designed to optimize launch. So is the employment of a “super-shallow” Cup Face. A raised steel mass area at the rear of the sole is used to reduce drag, improve turf interaction and get golf balls quickly up in the air no matter how tough a lie might be. And an offset design works with heel weighting to help those who fight a slice.
The C521s use a Diamond Face technology that relies on 29 thick and thin shapes to enhance the sweet spot and promote faster ball speeds on off-center hits. The CG is low and deep in these puppies as well, for better launch and distance, and the extremely high moment of inertia is added to make them very forgiving.
Acoustic Ribbing Channels inside the club head are fashioned to enrich both sound and feel, and a deeper Power Channel is most noteworthy for the added face flexing it provides and the forgiveness it offers on shots struck lower on the face.
The C521 hybrids are available in right-handed versions only, with lofts of 19, 22, 25 and 28 degrees. The E521s come in those lofts, but in both right- and left-handed options.
