Founded in 1995 and located in Lafayette, Louisiana, Golfballs.com is regarded as among the earliest online retailers in the game. Officials say the company also is the first in the United States to offer customized golf products online. Golf balls are the primary product, as the name suggests, and according to director of marketing Brad Pécot, it strives “to make golf more fun for its customers” and create special connections to them with their wares.
Pécot says that Golfballs.com has a business-to-business side, which mostly entails corporations having their logos put on golf balls, as well as a business-to-consumer side that offers the chance to use monograms, photos, emojis, text in the form of names or sayings, alignment aids and official licensed logos from sports teams.
“We make it extremely easy to customize balls in whatever way you want,” said Pécot. “And we have developed lots of software over the years to keep providing new ways for golfers to customize their gear, and to do so in ways that ensure the images we use look good in terms of clarity and detail and are very durable.”
Golfballs.com has a deep inventory of the leading ball brands and requires only a one-dozen minimum on orders, which usually take only a day to fill. Most times, the customization work entails a $5 or $10 upcharge for a dozen.
The company also offers customized golf tees and accessories such as divot tools and ball markers and sells full lines of clubs, apparel, shoes and bags. In addition to its online presence, it also has been operating a massive retail store in Lafayette since 2004.
