Local Cyclists Ride the Greenbelt with the Co-Chairs of the Pennsylvania House Cycling and Trails CaucusMore than 40 local bicyclists rode the Greenbelt on the morning of May 5 along with State Representatives Patrick Harkins and Parke Wentling, the co-chairs of the House’s Cycling and Trails Caucus.In addition to the Representatives, cyclists got to make the case for more and safer cycling and trails to a PennDOT staff member who also rode the ‘Belt. The group, rode with escorts from the Capitol Police Department’s Bicycle officers who ensured their safety as they made their way around the ‘Belt.

Recycle Bicycle founder Ross Willard took part in this year’s ride and reported how important it is for cyclist to take advantage of every opportunity to positively interact with the state’s legislative leaders. “Rides like this, where dozens of cyclists who are strong advocates for safe cycling and the development and maintenance of trails, are invaluable,” Willard said.

Recycle Bicycle Founder Ross Willard has Passed Away

It is with a heavy heart that we note the passing of our friend and partner, Ross Willard.

Ross was a strong advocate for bike safety and ensuring everyone had access to transportation. He volunteered annually at Tour de Belt, from organizing the start, serving as emcee, and providing bike racks. Everyone in the bicycling community will miss him. Our thoughts are with his wife, family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
