In making the case for the Council’s passing the resolution, CAGA President Doug Hill noted that CAGA does not own any of the Greenbelt, that most of the 24-mile path is owned by CAGA’s municipal partners. “The City owns about ten miles of the Greenbelt. For more than 30 years the Greenbelt in South Harrisburg was on privately owned land with no easements or other legal protections. Acquisition of the Pennsy property by the City will permanently protect the trail through South Harrisburg and connect the City’s Riverfront Park to the Cameron Parkway.”
Upon passage of the Resolution, Hill thanked the City for their cooperation, not only on this, but for their support of the Greenbelt since its inception more than 30 years ago. Hill also voiced appreciation for letters received in support of the grant application from the following:
