This is a whole day event which replaces our usual Annual General Meeting and will be held at Scone Palace, Perth. The Palace will be closed to the public but we are delighted to have been given permission to hold our meeting there. The Palace is in a very central location and is fully accessible with parking and good links to public transport.
We have invited some interesting speakers and will be joined by Brian Cunningham, Honorary Vice President of Scottish Gardeners’ Forum and more importantly, Head Gardener at the Palace. You will be familiar with Brian’s presence on Beechgrove Garden and if you have visited the Palace recently you will have seen huge changes in the walled garden and within the grounds generally. Brian will give us an insight to the demands of managing such a huge space for the delight of visitors and the resident family.
M.T. O’Donnell, Editor of Scotland Grows Magazine, will talk about the fantastic standard of entries and the challenges faced when judging the Pallet and Planter Challenge held by Scottish Gardeners’ Forum at Scone Palace Garden Fair.
The programme for the day will also include talks by exhibitors and educators who inspire and encourage their students as the horticulturalists of the future.
As well as the usual update of Scottish Gardeners’ Forum activities and business, there will be an opportunity for you to discuss the challenges that you face with your local club activities, and lunch and refreshments will be provided by the Palace catering team.
The date of the Winter Gathering is Saturday 1st November. Full details of cost (£20 per person) and a booking form is available on the website or by getting in touch with chair@scottishgardenersforum.org.uk.
We hope that you will be able to join us for what promises to be a most enjoyable day.
