Los Golferos 208
The bonding power of the game is often shown to be stronger than the epoxy that holds a clubhead in place. Los Golferos 208 – a club formed by Alejandro Montalván and others to encourage those of the Gem State’s Latino population to begin to play the game – is a prime example of that.
"The point is to bring people together, to connect, and to let everyone know that there are more than a few Latinos playing golf," said Sergio Mendoza, founder of the social golf club, via KTBV 7 Idaho. "Here in Idaho, there are quite a few of us."
The club is active on Instagram, where it has over 1,400 followers, and posts to spread news, announce events, give swing tips and more. Its mission statement on that platform mentions the phrase, “Unidos por golf y la cultura,” which translates to, “United by golf and the culture.”
As it continues to grow, the club is open to those throughout the entire state, whether on the west or east side. After all, its name is Los Golferos 208.
