NSBE Magazine Unveils New Digital Format
Welcome to the National Society of Black Engineers’ digital magazine. NSBE has been at the forefront of digital publication since 2008, with e-editions such as this: http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nsbe/2013fall. We recognize, however, that technology changes as fast as the weather. Smaller, mobile screens have become a staple in our society, and, therefore, we happily introduce NSBE Magazine on a new platform, known as Ubiquity.
Ubiquity is the only publication-centric, responsive design platform that still gives you, the reader, that page-by-page experience you know and love. Through our media partner Nxtbook, Ubiquity uses your browser to re-flow the magazine’s content to fit the screen of any device. Article text, images, animations and videos are flowed so that no zooming is necessary, whether on your mobile phone, tablet or desktop.
Ubiquity scales with technology. While standards are still trying to catch up with HTML5, new technology and new features are added to browsers regularly. Ubiquity publications will be able to use the new features added to the product with little or no modification to your content. This means as soon as a new tablet or phone is released, minimal work will be required to make all existing publications work on it. Publish once, syndicate everywhere. NSBE’s web developer and publications team are working to keep the Society abreast of new technology.
We ask that you view this publication, which is filled with exciting information about NSBE’s upcoming 40th Annual Convention. Then, we invite you to take the short survey in the back, to tell us about your experience. In the meantime, you can also e-mail comments to publications@nsbe.org. We hope you like it!
