FootJoy’s iconic Pro/SL golf shoe – featuring ultra-lightweight comfort with improved connectivity to the ground – is back with a reimagined design based on input from tour professionals.
“We don’t just make changes to make changes, especially with a category like Pro/SL that’s been a global success for over 10 years,” said Patrick Trubiano, the director of product management for FJ Footwear. “This version of Pro/SL was designed from the ground up with tour-player input to deliver the best possible golf performance in an athletic, spikeless package.”
The Pro/SL upper features advanced multilayer construction that surrounds the foot with targeted support and flexibility. The innovative design helps harness and transfer energy more efficiently through the golf swing, the company says.
Its new outsole design is built specifically for golf with strategically placed cones and traction fins to maximize ground contact.
The new Pro/SL ($185) is 29 percent lighter than the prior generation, with heel crash pads to absorb walking impact and cushion every step. The 3D padded collar and breathable mesh lining provides wraparound comfort and fit while a slightly wider toe box offers more room.
“The big thing for me – Pro/SL provides the right amount of stability vs. flexibility,” said PGA Tour pro Sahith Theegala. “I move a lot in my golf swing and the shoe allows me to move without losing that stable connection to the ground. This is also the most comfortable version yet.”
The Pro/SL comes in both men’s and women’s designs, with a BOA fit system option ($210) in the women’s model.
