During a hearing last Thursday in a lawsuit seeking to stop the Trump administration’s planned renovation of East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., a federal judge sought assurances from the administration that it would not proceed with renovation plans until the courts resolve the matter.
U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes said President Trump’s recent social-media posts stating that the course renovations would start Sept. 1 raised her concerns, and that the visibility of plans during Trump’s June 28 visit to the course with designer Tom Fazio suggested the project is further along than previously acknowledged.
Still, Reyes made no decision on the case. “I’m just not there yet,” she said, according to an Associated Press report. “I’m not going to assume the [U.S. Department of the Interior] is going to act in bad faith.”
The D.C. Preservation League and two local residents filed the lawsuit against the Department of the Interior in February seeking to block the administration’s plans. READ MORE
