The Elite Amateur Golf Series has hired Nick Biesecker as its new executive director.
Biesecker, a former NCAA Division I golfer at Southern Methodist University, brings nearly 25 years of experience in sports marketing, athlete management and sponsorship consulting. He has worked extensively across the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour and DP World Tour, representing elite players and building lasting partnerships with global brands.
Biesecker will serve part-time in the new role while continuing as president of Resolute Sports Advisors, where he has managed professional and NIL athletes, developed brand strategies, and executed international events. His career also includes leadership roles at Blue Giraffe Sports, Bridgestone Golf USA, and Creekhouse Management. He has worked with world-class players including Stuart Appleby, Lexi Thompson, Henrik Norlander, Linn Grant, Harry Higgs and Cheyenne Knight.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Biesecker has deep ties to amateur golf. He has served on the Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament Committee and the MidPenn Bank Sports & Entertainment Advisory Board, and as a player, he competed in some of the series’ marquee events, including the Sunnehanna Amateur, North & South Amateur, Southern Amateur and Western Amateur.
The Elite Amateur Golf Series, launched in 2021, connects seven of the premier men’s summer amateur championships and five of the leading women’s summer amateur tournaments to provide a platform for identifying and developing the next generation of professional players.
Kevin VandenBerg, Johnny Spellerberg and Lauren Greenlief won titles Sunday at the fourth renewal of The Farrell, a tournament for mid- and senior amateurs contested at the Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.
VandenBerg defeated No. 1 seed Jim Strickland, 5 and 4, to win the senior amateur title. Spellerberg was a 5-and-4 winner over Matt Lowe in the men’s mid-amateur division, while Greenlief prevailed, 3 and 1, over France’s Perrine Gouin Petit to claim the women’s mid-amateur crown.
Fresh off his semifinal run at the U.S. Mid-Amateur, Christian Cavaliere led the men’s mid-amateur field in stroke-play qualifying with a 9-under-par 63, setting a new course record at Stanwich. Greenlief led the women’s mid-amateur qualifying with a 69, while four players shot 72 to lead senior-amateur qualifying.
The Farrell, a tournament growing in national stature, recognizes the legacy of longtime Stanwich head professional Billy Farrell. Farrell was the club’s first head professional, a role he held from 1964 until his retirement in 2000. Farrell died in May 2020 at 85. The Metropolitan Golf Association conducts the tournament in partnership with the club.
