In the ongoing quest to combine softer feel and control with more speed and distance, Mizuno introduces the Pro S and Pro X to the realm of premium golf balls.
“We feel like this is the first ball that’s really worthy of that Mizuno Pro name,” said Chris Voshall, Mizuno’s head of product.
The Mizuno Pro S is engineered to provide the softest feel and precise control, with low long-game spin and moderate short-game spin for players seeking maximum precision. The Mizuno Pro X is designed to deliver soft feel with versatile performance, with mid long-game spin and balanced short-game spin.
Both the Pro S and Pro X have a 12 percent thinner cover and a 6 percent thicker mantle layer – a combination that enhances ball speed while maintaining a soft, responsive feel – as well as a Axial Flow design with 332 dimples (instead of 272) to reduce resistance and keep it in the air longer.
The Pro S delivers a mid-trajectory ball flight, offering a penetrating and stable path that performs exceptionally well in various playing conditions. The Pro X differentiates itself with a higher trajectory, producing greater peak heights and steeper landing angles.
“When you’re looking at golf balls, it’s not uncommon to measure yourself against Titleist Pro V1,” said Voshall, “and we wanted this to feel even softer than a Pro V1.”
Both the Mizuno Pro S and Pro X golf balls (each $47.99 per dozen) became available on Jan. 22.
