The new Kai’li Series represents the first shafts MCA Golf has launched since Tensei in 2015, and the first of these to hit the market is Kai’li White. It is a low-torque, low-launch product with a gloss black finish and ocean-themed graphic elements, and it features a taper butt design for what company officials describe as “a feeling of smooth power in the hands.”
According to Mark Gunther, vice president of sales and marketing for MCA Golf, the Kai’li Series uses Mitsubishi Chemical’s Super Low Resin Content composite material in the torque core, the most consequential part of the shaft for creating feel. By driving down resin content and increasing the volume of carbon fiber in that section, Gunther says, MCA engineers were able to improve frequency response to the golfer’s hands, creating in the process a “responsive, smooth feel not often associated with low launch profiles.”
“Kai’li is a bold new series designed like none before,” he said. “It is also a blend of words meant to evoke the power and mystery of the ocean, and this series is about discovering and unleashing new depths of strength and performance.”
The company says all Kai’li flexes (R, S, X, TX) will be endowed with a “super-strong” tip reinforced by a carbon fiber material known as MR70 as well as the SLRC composite, both of which are unique to Mitsubishi Chemical.
This first release of the Kai’li series will be available in early 2022, with a suggested retail price of $300. Per usual, other designs from that family will follow.
