The new TR21X irons from Honma are made to launch shots higher and with lower spin, so they carry farther. Each clubhead boasts a heavy tungsten bar, and those get progressively heavier as the lofts increase, allowing company engineers to move the center of gravity deep and low.
In addition to optimizing overall ball flight, these sticks also are designed to enhance stability. Honma technicians aim to increase moment of inertia for greater forgiveness, as they also enhance distance through a high-strength steel face with a L-cup design that increases ball speed, especially on miss hits. Also, foam is injected inside the body of the clubhead to bolster feel and forgiveness.
To ensure that the irons look as good as they play, Honma technicians said they endowed them with the sleek, stylish look of a muscle-back blade.
“The distance-iron category is the fastest growing iron segment, and the TR21X makes a bold statement of looks, sound, feel and flight that will bring a lot of confidence to players who put this full set in play,” said Mark Myrhum, director of global product for the Japan-based clubmaker.
Added Chris McGinley, general manager for Honma North America: “With these exceptional new TR21X products, Honma offers another way for golfers to experience our unique brand. Japanese golf equipment companies are world-renowned for making forged irons that are preferred by discerning golfers. Honma delivers that special look-feel-performance combination with these clubs.”
