Adidas officials describe the new CodeChaos shoe series as being both “progressive and deliberate” and “meant to challenge what a golf shoe can look and feel like while still delivering top-notch performance.”
There is no denying that this spikeless product possesses a modern aesthetic. And the addition to this two-model line of a high-top version that boasts a stretch-knit collar as well as the Boa fitting system only reinforces that.
But CodeChaos also is notable for its technology, beginning with an outsole that features a proprietary traction system called Twistgrip. Developed through the evaluation of heat maps that show how golfers distribute and shift weight through their swing, it allowed the company’s engineers to determine where traction was needed most and what lug shapes would provide the best grip.
As for the upper, it is made of multilayer mesh designed to provide a unique texture while enhancing durability and breathability and keeping things lightweight. With those layers encased in a film, the shoes are waterproof as well.
CodeChaos also employs a full-length Boost cushioning system as well as a Torsion X stability bar to bolster support.
“Golf continues to evolve and is in an exciting phase right now where the traditions of the game and how it can be played are being challenged,” says Masun Denison, global footwear director for Adidas Golf. “We’re excited about this movement, which has inspired us to break down barriers and create unique footwear.”
