Brooks Koepka (above) tweaked his left knee while in South Korea and withdrew before the third round of the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges.
In a statement released through the PGA Tour, Koepka said he slipped on wet pavement during his second round last Friday, aggravating the knee that troubled him earlier in the year, and would head home for further tests. Koepka had been scheduled to play in this week’s Zozo Championship in Japan.
Koepka, who opened with rounds of 69-75 at Nine Bridges, recently revealed he underwent stem cell treatment for a partially torn patella tendon. Heading into the tournament, he pronounced himself in good physical condition.
“My knee's fine, it feels good. It bugged me for about – since March maybe, but everything's fine now,” Koepka said. “Did my rehab, my recovery and there shouldn't be any issues.
“There might be one more round of stem cells maybe before hopefully the end of the year here during some off time. But other than that, I feel great. My knee feels good. It’s the first time it’s been feeling consistently good in a while.”
