Things in this year’s NorCal Player’s League are starting to get a bit more serious.
This season, the league features 29 teams—nine that are new–split into eight different groups. Matches began in August and will continue to be held through Nov. 10 as the fields get whittled down.
By the time Nov. 20 rolls around, only four teams will be left, with those squads competing in the NorCal Championship at the recently renovated Poppy Ridge. Two teams will emerge from the NorCal Championship and move on to the California Player’s League Championship, set for Dec. 15 at Poppy Hills. There, the two top NCGA teams will compete against the two best teams from the Southern California Golf Association league.
One of the NCGA’s newer programs, NCGA Player’s League is open to every private, semi-private and public golf course with the NCGA region.
Teams are comprised of seven players–six amateur members and one member from each club’s professional staff. Clubs are arranged in groups of three, four or five and play a series of home and away matches within their assigned group. Each match is ordered based on Handicap Index, but played to scratch, utilizing the Player’s League points system to score matches.
At the end of the regular season, group winners meet in the NCGA Player's League Finals.
While it’s too late for the 2025 season to get in on the action, the 2026 Player’s League is just around the corner.

“The NCGA Player’s League continues to be an event that both my golf professional staff and best scratch players in the club look forward to each season. A great opportunity to hit the road to enjoy camaraderie and competition with local clubs with the hopes of qualifying for the NorCal Championships and a golf getaway to beautiful Monterey and Poppy Hills.”
