The Midwest, and specifically the Chicago District, is littered with great golf courses fit for elite players to compete on. This season, a number of those will be on display, as the PGA Tour, USGA, Western Golf Association (WGA) and more will visit the Great Lakes region throughout the summer and fall. Highlighted by the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club and the 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Sand Valley, the Midwest's best will be on full display for months and years to come.
June 15-18Knollwood Club (Lake Forest)
Fast Fact: This will be the 10th time that Knollwood Club has served as host to a major amateur event featuring international competition and first since former Illini men’s golfer Dylan Meyer won the Western Amateur a decade ago (1945 Women’s Western Amateur, 1956 U.S. Amateur, 1981 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2016 Western Amateur, five Women’s Western Juniors).
June 25-28Panther Creek Country Club (Springfield)
Fast Fact: Last summer, Glenview’s Charlie Nikitas carded rounds of 69, 68, 67 and 69 to finish T55 and make the cut in his Korn Ferry Tour debut. Nikitas went on to place T41 in the NV5 Invitational at The Glen Club a month later.
July 2-5TPC Deere Run (Silvis)
Fast Fact: The John Deere Classic has helped raise more than $200 million in total charitable giving since the event’s inception in 1971 through the Birdies for Charity program. A record $16.9 million was raised in 2025, exceeding the previous high from the year prior by nearly $1 million.
July 6-11River Forest Country Club (Elmhurst)
Fast Fact: The Women’s Western Amateur regularly attracts the best talent from around the globe. Past competitors have tallied over 340 LPGA victories, 135 major championships and 60 Solheim Cup appearances.
July 23-26The Glen Club (Glenview)
Fast Fact: An annual stop on the Korn Ferry Tour schedule, the Evans Scholars Invitational returns to The Glen Club in 2026 with its original name after being tabbed the NV5 Invitational for the last four seasons. Winners of the event include Scottie Scheffler (2019), Cameron Young (2021) and Harry Hall (2022).
July 27-August 1Beverly Country Club (Chicago)
Fast Fact: A CDGA and WGA founding member club, Beverly is set to welcome the Western Amateur for the third time in 2026 (1930, 2014). The Donald Ross design has also played host to four Western Opens, three Women’s Western Opens, the 2011 Western Junior, 1931 U.S. Amateur, 2009 U.S. Senior Amateur and the 1943 Chicago Victory National Open. It is one of a few clubs that has hosted the Western Open, Amateur and Junior.
August 10-12The Club at Wynstone (Barrington)
Fast Fact: This year marks the first time the Illinois Open will be contested at The Club at Wynstone, which played host to the 2016 CDGA Senior Amateur and 2017 CDGA Amateur Four-Ball Championships.
September 24-27Medinah Country Club (Medinah)
Fast Fact: With the Presidents Cup set to visit this fall, west-suburban Medinah will become the only club in the world to host the U.S. Open (1949, 1975, 1990), Ryder Cup (2012), PGA Championship (1999, 2006) and Presidents Cup. Course No. 3 has also been the site of one U.S. Senior Open, three Western Opens and, most recently, the 2019 BMW Championship.
September 26-October 1Sand Valley Resort (Nekoosa, Wis.)
Fast Fact: Defending champion and Bloomington native Brandon Holtz highlights a field set to return to the Dairy State for the second time in five years (Erin Hills, 2022). This year’s trip to Sand Valley marks the first of four scheduled USGA championships that will head to the recently-resurrected The Lido, with the Sand Valley Course serving as co-host.
