Every September 15, we start celebrating Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, which recognizes the national independence days of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, who formed the United Provinces of Central America. The first president was Manuel José Arce. See what you can find in the library’s Hispanic Life in America database about Arce.
Hint: You can find the Hispanic Life in America in the library’s Newspaper resources by going to the Research tab on the website, then Newspapers in Popular Topics. Do a search for “Manuel Jose Arce” and sort by oldest result.
September is also Healthy Aging Month. Did you know the library is offering many events to attend, such as guided meditation, bike clubs for ages 50+, Qi Gong, yoga, and more. See if you can find the older adults events on the library’s programming calendar.
Hint: From the homepage, head to events, then select “Program Type” from the left side filter menu, check “Older Adults,” and click “Apply."
