Barbara Woolf (Big Bear City, Calif.) doesn’t describe herself as a sports fan. She never took to football, basketball or baseball. She’s strictly a NASCAR fan -- and a recent one at that.
“I joke that I’m spending all of my grandkids’ inheritance since I’ve gotten hooked later in life,” Woolf said.
Woolf was introduced to the sport about a decade ago when she went to her home track at Auto Club Speedway. She’s been a regular visitor to NASCAR tracks ever since, as a season ticket-holder at Fontana, Phoenix and Las Vegas. She has visited every single track on the Cup Series with the exception of Kentucky.
Woolf recently joined Out of the Groove for a Q&A.
“The excitement, how close you can be to the cars, the drivers. I love how nice the people are.”
“My husband and I usually follow the circuit. I take my three grandkids to Auto Club Speeway.”
“Matt Kenseth. I don’t know why I went with him, but I did. He seemed like a nice person. When he left, it was hard to pick another driver. I went with someone different depending on the week.”
