This week is a special episode of Out of the Groove, as 60 years ago this week Wendell Scott made his debut as the first African American NASCAR driver. Today, thanks to the support of Norfolk State University, Eric welcomes Wendell Scott’s grandson Warrick Scott, along with Norfolk State alumni and NASCAR pit crew member Brehanna Daniels.
It’s a wide ranging conversation on Wendell Scott’s legacy in NASCAR, from his debut all the way to the modern era with Bubba Wallace. We’ll hear about how Wendell would prepare for his races, and also be treated to Brehanna’s first feelings as she attended her first race.
