Go On” is the theme for YOUTH 2015, June 24-28, in Orlando, Fla.

YOUTH 2015 is the quadrennial event for United Methodist youth and their leaders in the United States. Participants will experience the breadth and depth of The United Methodist Church, enrich one another and learn to experience and express their faith in new, vibrant ways.

What does it mean to “Go On”? The Wesleyan movement began because of the foundational idea that faith produces inward and outward holiness. Faith calls people into action.

YOUTH 2015 is about experiencing and participating. Everything at the event will invite people to experience discipleship by showing and practicing acts of piety and mercy on site. The design team hopes participants will go on to their home churches, full of passion and ideas to live out their faith in new ways. YOUTH 2015 will provide a foundation for discipleship rooted in the Wesleyan tradition.

The key Scripture is Hebrews 6:1a, which reads, “Therefore, let us go on toward perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation” (NRSV).

All United Methodist youth and their leaders are welcome at YOUTH 2015 – those who have already had some exposure to Christ, God and the denomination, as well as those who are still making up their minds about faith and commitment to Christ.

Participants will be active – worshipping, serving, fasting, feeding the hungry, uniting for as well as seeking justice, praying and studying Scripture.

YOUTH 2015 is open to all youth, ages 12 through 18 or grades 7 through 12. It will be at the Marriott World Center with all event activities and lodging on site.

The registration fee includes:

Registration began in November 2014.

Organizing the quadrennial national event is a 32-member design team resourced by Young People’s Ministries of Discipleship Ministries (General Board of Discipleship).

A primary goal of the design team is for YOUTH 2015 to be “accessible, relevant and culturally competent for any United Methodist youth that attends,” said Chris Wilterdink, director of program development at Young People’s Ministries.

“That includes a focus on diversity in stage presence, performers, styles of worship and connectional context. The team will also strive to integrate accessibility options for those with disabilities,” he said.
