Flat Parts

Flat Parts

Parts that aren't flat can be a real headache for downstream processes, as my article on Mayville Engineering Co. in this issue notes. Any type of cutting process that uses heat can release inherent stresses in the material being cut, causing it to warp. Once warped, it's not easy to fix, especially for thicker materials. But there is a way. Find out how by reading the article.

Going to the dogs

You may have noticed in our February issue an ad for Freedom Guide Dogs. It's our way of giving back to some of the community we serve, and, we feel, it's a very important cause. Their website says this about the charity: "Freedom Guide Dogs is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization based in Upstate New York, which breeds, raises, trains and places guide dogs with the blind and visually impaired through a distinctive program called Hometown Training. Freedom Guide Dogs' services are available to people in the Eastern United States at no cost."

Through this charity, it turns out that "man's best friend" can offer services in many more ways than by just being a pet.
