What is your overall outlook for revenue and employee growth for 2013?

We anticipate revenue remaining flat as we go into 2013 and minimal staffing changes beyond those modest staff additions for which we have budgeted. In this regard we have created a conservative budget for 2013, one which we believe to be prudent in facing the continued economic challenges.

What is your company doing now to assure you meet those goals?

At Luthercare we have disciplined ourselves to run very tightly in terms of operations, and have become very good at controlling expenses over which we have control. We have done this in a very concerted effort while maintaining the highest quality in service. We are committed to learning, continued growth and well being of our team members, and to competitive benefits. Our workforce is the key. We also remain focused on top revenue streams as we investigate other opportunities for service, consistent with our mission.

What is the biggest challenge you’re currently facing and how do you plan to conquer it?

The contracted sluggish national economy remains our biggest challenge. People are tentative about selling a home, and the housing market has a tremendous impact on the senior living market. With regard to childcare services, when one parent is unemployed that parent is likely providing care at home. We have seen recent improvement in both areas. We are also impacted by restricted government funding in the areas of health care and long term care.

What role does the Internet play in your business and is it greater than you ever expected?

There is no doubt that the internet plays an ever greater role in our business, whether it be from automated forms, web based applications, ordering processes, etc. We also find that prospective users of our services increasingly research more, make application on line, gather information through social media and other means.

What is the one thing you’d like the people of Lancaster County to know about your business?

At Luthercare, we understand ourselves to be part of the fabric of the community in Lebanon and Lancaster counties. We have been a proud member of the community for over 60 years, providing senior living services and child care and early learning. We have, and will continue, to look for ways to deepen partnerships and build new relationships as opportunity arises. We are an organization rich with team members who serve on boards and committees throughout the larger community. Luthercare strives to be and stay connected.
