Connections LIVE: How to Get the Right People in the Right Room
On Thursday, Jan. 24 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Nxtbook Media, 480 New Holland Pike, Building 7, Connections LIVE audience members learned How to Rebound from the Recession in a lunch-and-learn sponsored by Northwestern Mutual.
Audience members were challenged to think differently in regards to running their own business and learned how to lead and thrive in perilous situations thanks to Northwestern Mutual’s sponsorship.
“As a sponsor, I didn’t realize the depth of the presentation that Connections puts into this event. I thought it was going to be laid back and just addressing a few people and having a round table. But this was amazing. It was a formal setting in an incredible environment,” said Andy Wallover, managing director of Northwestern Mutual. “I look forward to doing it again.”
Wallover decided to sponsor the event because he recognizes building local relationships is critical. “Sherry Smith, Connections magazine’s business development director, explained to me that Connections LIVE is all about people and making connections once a month. Once I heard the concept I fell in love with it,” said Wallover.
Wallover found value in bringing businesspeople together for an opportunity to learn and network. Executives and representatives from Smilebuilderz, synergize!, rkl Esolutions, The Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired and more were in attendance.
Marilyn Walker, president of synergize! came to the event because she knew the catering from the Greenfield Restaurant and Bar is a crowd pleaser and each time she comes she takes valuable lessons away from each presenter.
“I greatly appreciate the sponsors who help put this on. I know from experience that there is a lot that goes on to put on an event like this so the fact that you have sponsors to help you present it, I’m appreciative of what they do for all of us,” said Walker. “Connections magazine and Connections LIVE showcase what great businesses are doing in our community and I’m always learning something new every time I interact with the brand.”
Joe Noll, of rkl Esolutions, came to Connections LIVE because he saw the topic and wanted to listen to the presenter.
“It was interesting to see how local businesses have endured struggles over the years and how they have survived them,” said Noll. “By listening to the presenter, it made me realize that reading Connections is an amazing magazine experience. I’ve really started to pay more attention to it because both opportunities—Connections and Connections LIVE teach me so much.”
Don Byler of Donald Byler Events believes the sponsors who put on the event are fantastic because they’re actively giving back to the community and it bodes well for their brand.
“I wanted to give people a chance to meet more people in Lancaster County,” said Wallover. “For us, as a company, I know we’ll get branding out of it but more importantly I’m not concerned with what we got out of it. I just believed that people would get so much value out of it.”
“Connections LIVE gets the right people in the right room,” said Wallover.
